8 Obi-Wan Kenobi

The tragedy of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker is like no other. The two were friends; brothers. However, when Anakin fell to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi knew he was the only one that could defeat the very man he trained. Ever since Obi-Wan left Vader for dead on Mustafar, the more-machine-than-man Sith Lord has been waiting for a rematch.

Darth Vader faced Obi-Wan Kenobi for the last time on the Death Star, years after their last duel. Obi-Wan resided in his fate, becoming one with the Force so that he could better train Luke Skywalker. Obi-Wan accepted his death at the hands of Darth Vader, disappearing with the killing blow of Vader’s iconic red lightsaber.

7 Shaak Ti

Shaak Ti was a Jedi Master who was an important Jedi High Council member. She was a skilled warrior and a devoted teacher, and she spent many of her years during the Clone Wars as a representative of the Republic on Kamino, overseeing the training and development of the Clone Troopers.

At the time of Vader’s emergence to the Dark Side, Shaak Ti was stationed on Coruscant. She was meditating, when Darth Vader came behind her and murdered her with his lightsaber from behind. This is regarded as the canon death of Shaak Ti, a character who has been killed in multiple deleted scenes.

6 Mace Windu

Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker always had a strained relationship. Mace Windu encapsulated the folly of the Jedi Order, but also all the good. After a climactic fight with the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, Mace Windu was ready to end the Sith once and for all by killing the defeated Sith. However, in desperation to save his wife, Anakin intervened.

Before Mace Windu could kill Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin used his lightsaber to cut off Mace Windu’s right hand, allowing Darth Sidious to use Force Lightning to electrocute Mace Windu to death, shooting him outside to plummet to the ground below. This dual effort from Vader and Sidious caused Mace Windu’s death.

5 Jocasta Nu

The Chief Librarian of the Jedi, Jocastu Nu had a vastly important role as a Jedi Master. Jocasta Nu was the caretaker of the Jedi Archives, which held vast knowledge of the galaxy and the Jedi from over a thousand generations.

When Order 66 was initiated, and the Jedi fell across the galaxy, Jocasta Nu knew that the preservation of the Jedi was of the utmost importance. She attempted to retrieve a Holocron containing a list of Force-sensitive children, but Darth Vader was waiting for her, who killed her after a violent battle.

4 Trilla Suduri

During the time of the Jedi Order, Trilla Suduri was a Padawan and a talented duellist. However, her life as a Jedi would be stolen from her after the reign of the Galactic Empire took a grip on the galaxy. Trilla was then forced to train as an Inquisitor, where torture took hold of her and made her into the Second Sister.

As the Second Sister, Trilla was a violent hunter of Jedi survivors, until she made amends with Cere Junda, her former Jedi Master. This reunion was cut short, as the now renowned Jedi Trilla was executed by Darth Vader.

3 Kirak Infil’a

Kirak Infil’a is one of the most interesting Jedi for a few reasons/ Kirak took the Barash Vow, which forbade him from interacting with the Jedi Order in any way. Due to his exile, Kirak evaded Order 66. This Jedi Master was a true talent in combat and a Master with seemingly only one purpose: to fight.

Darth Vader and Kirak Infil’a had a violent clash, but it was Kirak’s Jedi nature that was his undoing. Vader exploited Kirak’s compassion by flooding a nearby city. Kirak had no choice but to try and stop the flood, leaving him defenseless from Vader, who snapped his neck with the Force.

2 Cere Junda

Years after their initial fight at the Fortress Inquisitorious, Cere Junda had been preparing to face Darth Vader again on Jedha. Despite being prepared, and almost beating the Dark Lord of the Sith, Cere Junda lost after a weakened Darth Vader plunged his lightsaber into her stomach.

Cere Junda was a beloved Jedi and one of the survivors of the Great Jedi Purge who sought to archive all knowledge and teachings of the Jedi. Cere Junda truly gave Darth Vader a fight that could have been his end, but ultimately, it was not to be.

1 Anakin Skywalker

anakin skywalker Star Wars

In his own words, Obi-Wan Kenobi did not kill Anakin Skywalker, Vader did. After Anakin succumbed to the Dark Side due to the promises and manipulation of Darth Sidious, the light and hope in Anakin were gone, and Darth Vader was born from the weakness. For years, Vader considers himself the killer of Anakin Skywalker, to help fuel his anger.

Anakin Skywalker is perhaps the most layered and complex character in Star Wars, and there’s a good reason for that. Darth Vader has killed all memories of the past. From his attachments to Obi-Wan, to his life as a Jedi. The only thing that remains, is his tragic love for Padmé Amidala.
