Star Wars Battlefront Speeder

It may have taken a while to get here, but 2015 is looking like the year that Star Wars comes back into the spotlight in a big way. Of course, there’s the release of Star Wars: Episode 7 in December of this year, but gamers have plenty to look forward to in a galaxy far, far away as well.

Of the known quantities, though, there is only Star Wars Battlefront on the horizon. DICE’s upcoming FPS reboot is looking to be every bit the continuation fans want, with a decided focus on preserving the original game’s spirit while paying homage to the Star Wars universe.

However, a lot of that Star Wars Battlefront excitement has come from the intangibles – the developer quotes, the concept footage, and pre-visualization art. Gamers haven’t actually seen any real Star Wars Battlefront gameplay yet, but that will soon change.

Previously, we detailed Electronic Arts’ plans to debut Star Wars Battlefront footage at the Star Wars Celebration in April. It started with rumors of their attendance, but eventually was confirmed shortly thereafter.

At the time we didn’t know what exactly EA planned to show from Star Wars: Battlefront, but now we have a better idea. At 1030am PDT on April 17th, DICE will release the official reveal trailer for Star Wars Battlefront.

Star Wars Battlefront Release Window

Outside of that, though, we don’t know what exactly EA’s Star Wars Celebration plans entail. There is talk of a behind closed doors element for specific press, but that is unlikely to make its way to the public eyes any time soon. Chances are Star Wars fans will have to read about that Battlefront gameplay as preview content.

It’s also not entirely clear whether the Star Wars Battlefront trailer will debut exclusively at Star Wars Celebration or if it will simultaneously hit the Internet. Obviously, EA would want to make the event special for fans, but there are even more waiting at home to see something.

Even then, it shouldn’t be a long wait for EA to release something official online. They’ve got E3 2015 coming up, where Star Wars (not just Battlefront) is sure to be a major talking point, and Episode 7’s popularity to leap frog off of. Needless to say, April is going to be a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

What do you hope to see from Star Wars Battlefront next month? Would just a trailer suffice or do you hope to see more?
