Electronic Arts announces it will be revealing new content tomorrow for Star Wars Battlefront, likely in response to the community completing the holiday challenge.

Electronic Arts shared a cryptic tweet today on the EA Star Wars Twitter handle, telling Star Wars Battlefront players to prepare for a “cold front” on Tuesday, January 26th. Along with the simple statement is a photo of Luke Skywalker atop a Tauntaun on Hoth, with Han Solo at his side.

While the photo itself comes from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, it probably has more to do with a recent challenge EA offered the Star Wars Battlefront community than with the movie. That challenge, which took place during the holidays, was for Star Wars Battlefront players to collectively play as Han Solo or Luke Skywalker for 500,000 hours. Upon completing the challenge, EA promised a special award related to the two characters. There’s a good chance Tuesday’s “cold front” special is that reward.

Assuming Tuesday’s announcement has to do with the holiday challenge, Star Wars Battlefront players can likely expect some kind of free content to drop very soon. It would be a huge surprise if EA decided to attach a cost to the new content, considering players needed to complete a challenge to unlock whatever EA is planning. Plus, after launching the free Battle of Jakku DLC, DICE shared its plans to continue providing free content for Star Wars Battlefront. With that in mind, it’s very likely players can look forward to some kind of free content with Han and Luke on Hoth.

Hopefully whatever EA is planning goes beyond just a simple skin change for the characters. It would be fantastic if the publisher provided players a new co-op mission where two friends – or strangers – take on the roles of Luke and Han and battle it out against Wampas on Hoth while riding around on Tauntauns. Or perhaps Star Wars Battlefront is adding new hero skins that feature Hoth-themed outfits. Of course this is all speculation, but it’s fun to consider the possibilities before EA drops the news on Tuesday.

One thing is for sure: the new content won’t have anything to do with Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. EA already made clear it has no plans for a Force Awakens DLC. Regardless, fans will likely enjoy whatever the publisher is planning, especially if it’s free for all players.
