The DICE reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise has been a staple of E3 expos for several years now. 2013 saw the release of a teaser trailer, giving sci-fi fans a tantalizing look at the planet Hoth as a setting for the multiplayer-focused shooter. Meanwhile, 2014’s E3 gave another thrilling trailer, wowing gamers with another look at the ice planet, as well as another iconic Star Wars location in Endor.
Given the extremely long build-up to the game’s release, would-be players were certainly justified in feeling frustrated about the lack of Star Wars Battlefront gameplay shown. This year, however, gives gamers the most detailed look at the game yet. EA unveiled a gameplay video, giving fans of the Star Wars franchise a much-needed in-depth look at the game in action.
The gameplay trailer once more took players to the planet Hoth, with the Rebel Alliance struggling to fight off a walker assault. Showcasing the fight from the side of both the Rebels and the Empire, the gameplay footage provided an impressive look at the gameplay on show, taken from the PS4 multiplayer version of the game. The trailer also gave a glimpse at how Battlefront will work with combat on foot and by vehicle, detailing dogfighting combat.
The trailer not only gave a focus to the everyday troopers, either, although plenty of time was given to the wide variety of classes on show. The press conference trailer also briefly unveiled the player’s ability to use the iconic characters of the Star Wars universe. Sith Lord Darth Vader announces himself using a force choke on an unlucky Rebel Alliance soldier, before Luke Skywalker makes a triumphant return to the Battlefront series.
It was not only a gameplay video that EA was happy to unveil, as the press conference also gave some specific details regarding the hugely-anticipated game. In particular, the reveal gave away the sheer level of immersion that DICE is trying to create, explaining that the developer and publisher EA has been working closely with LucasArts to bring Star Wars to life.
It remains to be seen just how this level of authenticity will change the way that Battlefront plays, but thankfully players will not have too long to wait for more details. Given the title is set to release this November, there will likely be plenty more facts revealed in the future. In the meantime, be sure to stick with Game Rant for further E3 2015 news.
