The newest Star Wars Battlefront teaser trailer offers a first look at the Battle of Jakku DLC, which takes place 29 years before The Force Awakens film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still close to two months away, but gamers can return to a galaxy far, far away with the help of Star Wars Battlefront in just a few weeks. The first-person shooter releases November 19 and the first DLC pack, a prequel to The Force Awakens, will follow in early December. The latest Battlefront teaser gives a chaotic first look at what Jakku has to offer.

The short Star Wars Battlefront teaser doesn't offer any major details about the free DLC map, but does give viewers the first glimpse at the battle that takes place 29 years before the events of the upcoming movie. The firefight between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire looks a lot like the battles we've seen in other Battlefront levels, with ground combat taking place under the heels of iconic Star Wars vehicles. In the final seconds of the trailer a Star Destroyer is seen falling from the sky, which is a clear reference to the grounded spaceship that can be seen in both of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers.

The Battle of Jakku content releases December 8, just two weeks prior to the theatrical release of The Force Awakens. The DLC can be accessed a week early, on December 1, for players who pre-order the main game. Although it is slightly annoying that the content is launching a few weeks after the game's release, it is a nice change of pace that the content will be free. Using early access to the DLC to promote pre-orders is much better than promoting a $40 season pass before the game launches, like Batman: Arkham Knight did.

After the massive turnout for the game's beta, there's no denying that Star Wars Battlefront will have a serious following this winter. EA expects to move 13 million units of the game, so that will lead to plenty of opportunities to sell DLC down the line. Starting out by offering players a freebie, even if it's one that could have easily been added to the core game, seems like a smart way to get on the good side of Star Wars fans. We look forward to learning more about future add-on content in the coming months.

Star Wars Battlefront is set to release on November 17, 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
