Even with well over a month left before fans can finally go hands on with EA's ambitious sequel, Star Wars Battlefront 2, the company has already begun its marketing blitz. Earlier this week, Star Wars: The Force Awakens star, John Boyega, narrated a comprehensive trailer, revealing the many modes, heroes, and other content on day one. For fans wanting more of a look at the new single player campaign, EA released a new trailer showing off nearly 3 minutes of new footage.

Picking up from the short scene introduced in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer from earlier this week, fans return to the imperial world of Vardos where Inferno Squad Captain Iden Versio has just been informed of Emperor Palpatine's death. In a shocking twist, the news was delivered by none other than Palpatine himself through a recorded hologram and sent through a Imperial messenger droid. At Palpatine's command, Versio and her squad plan to strike back at the Rebels through Operation Cinder.

According to Iden's father and commanding officer Admiral Garrick Versio, Operation Cinder is a way for the Empire to ensure its future. While the main target wasn't revealed, though it could be hinted at in a previous trailer, Iden was instead given a data chip with a number of unusual assignments on them. The trailer ends with short clips of campaign gameplay footage showing Inferno Squad taking down rebels, Iden getting ready to pilot her tie fighter, and more.

While many players, including Boyega, were unhappy that 2013's Star Wars Battlefront did not have a single player campaign, EA called upon Jade Raymond's Motive Studio to handle that side of things for Battlefront 2. Instead of telling a tale from the Rebels or Jedi side, Motive instead opted to follow Inferno Squad, elite Imperial agents assigned to only the most dangerous of missions. Players will experience their tale from the end of Return of the Jedi through the newer movies like The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches on November 17, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
