In the last 48 hours, the Internet has been in an uproar over EA's business model in Star Wars Battlefront 2. After some serious controversy regarding hero unlock times, reduced currency gain, and an abundance of loot box complaints, the company has seen criticism non-stop on Reddit as well as all around the web.

The social news and discussion site has been particularly anti-EA as of late, with boycotts, mass-refunds, and one of the most down-voted comments in Reddit history coming in the publisher's direction. With that in mind, it seems even more amazing that the EA team has set up an AMA for later today.

An AMA or 'Ask Me Anything' is a post on Reddit where a celebrity or organization of interest will allow users to ask them questions on any subject of their choosing. Usually, the idea is to promote an upcoming product or improve a brand, but this time EA will likely be working to redeem Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the eyes of the angered community. The announcement came via EA's Star Wars Twitter account yesterday, where it was met with some confusion.

Although EA is likely looking for player feedback regarding its latest game, the trio of developers are going to be talking directly to a group of users who have spent the last two days hating the company and everything it stands for. Because of this, it seems all too possible that the Star Wars team may simply be met with hate and a wall of down-votes before they even get to explain their actions or work towards potential changes.

It's a shame because Star Wars Battlefront 2 looks to be one of the most well-crafted Star Wars titles in quite some time. According to the reviews which have dropped so far, the game looks and sounds beautiful, with an interesting storyline and enjoyable gameplay, only being tarnished by the greedy business-model that surrounds it.

If the AMA later on isn't met with a huge backlash and EA manages to announce some real changes to the title then it's possible that the team could win everyone over once more, but we'll have to wait and see for now. A lot of fans are going to find it very difficult to trust a company that appears to be making so many questionable decisions for profits, and one that removed the refund button from its website following a series of complaints.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 releases November 17, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
