Both Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the next Need for Speed game will be playable at E3 2017, publisher Electronic Arts confirms. EA promises that the company's annual EA Play event, which takes place alongside the main E3 festivities, will be a "great event for everyone."

EA Play will take place between June 10 - 12, confirms the publisher, with Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the new Need for Speed game being just two of the games available for hands-on time at the event. The publisher's slate of sports simulation games, including Madden NFL 18, FIFA 18 and NBA Live 18 will also be present and both attendees and those watching online can expect "detailed gameplay deep dives, competitive events, and exclusive interviews with the development teams." More will be shared in the "coming months," too, so this may not be all that the event has to offer.

Those looking forward to both the new Star Wars game and the new Need for Speed will be delighted at this news, but unfortunately EA hasn't detailed exactly what fans can expect from the titles. For example, although it has been confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will have a single-player campaign along with characters from the latest movies, Rogue One and The Force Awakens, just which characters and just how large that campaign will be is very much still a mystery to those outside EA and DICE's walls.

Less information still is available about the new Need for Speed game. Towards the end of 2016, a trademark for something called Need for Speed Arena popped up, prompting questions from fans about whether they could expect something like (arena based car sports game) Rocket League. Then, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the new Need for Speed would be the "most exciting" entry in the series so far. That's certainly a bold claim from the executive, but with no footage to back it up yet, it's difficult to get too hyped.

Disappointing as the lack of footage and info is now, it's at least positive that EA is planning to impress fans. Although the company has moved away from its traditional press conference format, in favor of letting fans get up close and personal with developers and their games, it seems that EA doesn't have any plans to skimp on the spectacle any time soon.

EA Play takes place between June 10-12, with Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the new Need for Speed being playable at the event. Tickets for the event will be available on April 20.
