The infamous long neck glitch has made its way into the Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer beta. Past DICE games like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 have featured the glitch, and fueled a few memes along the way.

While video game glitches run the gamut from frustrating to amusing, the ones that tend to get the most coverage are those that generate a few laughs. In fact, many bugs and glitches eventually become their own self-contained jokes, fueling copycats and memes for several years. One such meme that has blossomed out of gaming is the long neck glitch found in DICE games.

For those that might not be familiar, the long neck glitch first appeared during the Battlefield 3 beta. It was unclear how exactly the glitch is triggered, but the result is a nightmare straight out of James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

But while the long neck (or stretched soldier, as it is sometimes known) glitch was funny to look at, few expected it to appear in more DICE games. Then, during the Battlefield 4 beta, players spotted an elongated soldier glitch that could apparently be triggered by jumping while in crouch.

Now, with DICE’s next major game, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 holding its multiplayer beta this week, players have spotted the glitch once again. As can be seen in the image below, a trooper on the Naboo map Theed has a longer than normal neck. It also looks like the player is being struck by lightning, which adds insult to injury.

Although this long neck glitch should have been removed from the Frostbite Engine a long time ago, some like to believe that DICE continues to hide it in their games as a fun Easter Egg. No doubt the studio loves to pack secrets into its games, but not all of them are intentional like a giant shark.

Either way, the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta will continue for another day, offering players a small sample of the multiplayer experience from the upcoming release. Reception seems to be mostly positive, and that’s not counting the fact there is a single player campaign this time around.
