To say things for Star Wars Battlefront 2 have been rough since its launch would be putting things lightly, with its controversial loot box progression system getting such negative feedback, the developers completely reworked progression. It now seems the title will be receiving another update this month that will add a new game mode.

Electronic Arts revealed the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 mode today, which is called Ewok Hunt, will be available on April 18. In it, one team plays as the titular fuzzy alien race as they defend their homes on Endor from the Empire. Of course, the other team plays as the Empire, who are trying to survive surprise attacks until they can be extracted from the planet. EA provided this synopsis of the game mode:

"The ambush begins as Ewoks attack unsuspecting stormtroopers, using spears, Wisties, and other skills to take down their opponents. Each stormtrooper defeated spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. However, the stormtroopers’ superior training and firepower are more than a match for the Ewoks. Armed with a cadre of weapons as well as flashlights to pierce the darkness, players must hold back the Ewok’s ambush if they have a hope of surviving until an extraction team can arrive."

Not only will the new game mode be added, but there will also be new Endor-themed cosmetic items added for certain heroes. The main ones being Endor inspired attire for Han and Leia. As with other cosmetic items, they can be bought using earned in-game currency or by using crystals, which can be purchased using real currency. While the crystal system was removed after the initial fan backlash, it is supposed to be making its way back into the game at some point in the future.

Along with the new progression system, the previous update also unlocked all existing heroes for players. With that prior update, along with this upcoming one, it seems DICE and Electronic Arts are taking steps in the right direction to fix the issues players had with the game at launch. The biggest concerns being the pay-to-win progression system and lack of content, which was also an issue players had with the first game. With the progression system fixed, time will only tell if this new content will be enough to satisfy fans.

This upcoming update isn't the only thing fans have to look forward to for the title, either. The developer has also teased that they are looking at adding DLC from other parts of Star Wars universe, as well. The most fan-requested being content from The Clone Wars series, which DICE has hinted they are working on.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
