Four weeks from now, the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta will get underway, giving jedi and sith alike the chance to get a preview of one of the year's most hotly anticipated sequels. Now, a trusted leaker has offered up some insight into what we sort of content we can expect to try out.

Reddit user Some_Info has a good reputation when it comes to Star Wars Battlefront 2, having been responsible for the information that leaked ahead of E3 2017. A new post from the same account confirms some details that were already known, and offers up some brand new tidbits.

First and foremost, it outlines exactly what maps are going to be available in the beta. Up to 40 players will be able to fight it out on the Assault on Theed stage, while 24 players will be able to take to the skies in Starfighter Assault mode on Thondor — Strike on Takodana will apparently be playable, too.

Meanwhile, we should also gain access to the new version of the arcadey Skirmish mode from the 2015 reboot. This year's iteration is said to support co-op, including split-screen local multiplayer, but there's no word on whether that functionality will be a part of the beta.

Finally, there's some word on which characters will be playable. It's the same crew that were on show at E3 — Darth Maul, Rey, Han Solo, and Boba Fett. There's also an interesting note that we might see the LAAT vehicle included in the beta, although it might not actually be controllable.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 looks set to make some major improvements over its predecessor, which was fun in the short-term but didn't offer a great deal of depth. Between the follow-up's wealth of content and its single-player campaign, it could be the perfect holdover for Star Wars fans looking forward to The Last Jedi.

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta is scheduled to take place between October 6 and 9, which anyone who pre-ordered the game being given access from October 4.
