The Star Wars franchise has featured some iconic characters over the decades. Whether they are cute and cuddly like Porgs or as vicious as Ewoks, each character likely has a fan somewhere. One of the most beloved characters that the series has introduced is Ahsoka Tano. With news that there will be a new Disney+ show about the former Jedi sometime in the future, the Togruta will hopefully get more of the spotlight in other media.

There are a few ways that her presence could be increased outside of the limited Star Wars series that are currently planned. Her character has become influential across many stories, and Ahsoka has filled the role of guiding light during the time of the Empire's reign. Still, Ahsoka could benefit from appearances in games just as much as leading her own series.

Ahsoka's Solo Game

Ahsoka Order 66

While she started her journey as a Jedi Padawan, Ahsoka has seen a lot since her time with the Jedi Order. She may be one of the clearest examples that fans have of a Grey Jedi since the establishment of Star Wars Canon and Star Wars Legend. Her strength in the Force has shown her to be a deeply emotional and cognizant Force-sensitive, but she has also used Dark Side abilities like the Force Choke.

Highlighting these abilities and developing them more through a game could provide fans an immersive experience that allows them to bear witness to Ahsoka's stance in the middle. Moving through her skill tree in a game where she is the main character could also help to develop people’s understanding of a non-humanoid protagonist's story, as well as what the contemporary Force is. A similar example might be Rey Skywalker’s struggle with the Light and Dark Sides of the Force in The Rise of Skywalker.

The abilities that a Force-sensitive can obtain are greatly defined by their understanding and training. Both Ahsoka and Rey have trained under notable and powerful Jedi, with the former being able to survive and grow outside the Order. Allowing fans to experience how Ahsoka grows in between the conclusion of the Star Wars Rebels show and the beginning of Ahsoka could demonstrate how determined she is to become stronger. It could also show her determination not to stray down the path of the Sith.

Ahsoka In Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Ahsoka leaves the jedi

Ahsoka could also shine by continuing to play a supportive and key role as she has done through multiple Star Wars series. Her appearance on The Clone Wars and Rebels are great demonstrations of how she grows during the fall of the Republic and into the time of the Empire. It is the time after this that her story seems to be lacking. Introducing her in a game that takes place during this time could be a great way to build on her lore and the history of the galaxy.

A great concept could be her taking peripheral roles in some of the upcoming Star Wars games. There are hopes for a Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order 2, and Ahsoka could feature in the game well. The skill that Cal Kestis has already built with Psychometry, combined with Ahsoka’s past, could lead them to discover some of the more ancient aspects of the Force.

There are plenty of planets that could be revisited in a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, and even more lore that Ahsoka could directly help convey. She has experience with the realm of Mortis and its inhabitants, the World Between Worlds, and surely gains even more knowledge in the nine years between Rebels and Ahsoka. Allowing players to see that knowledge put to use in a game could help to highlight the character that she becomes later in life.

This kind of approach could also help to tie Star Wars games into the greater story of the galaxy without the reliance on the Skywalker family. Recent Star Wars games have struggled with this, and their continued influence has hindered the independent nature those titles had. The Skywalker Saga has concluded, and while the name lives on there are more stories to tell that can break away from Luke, Leia, and Anakin. Giving Ahsoka a supportive role in a future game could be a sign that their presence is not needed to continue the Star Wars story.

Ahsoka Could Introduce Fans to The Unknown Regions

Grand Admiral Thrawn and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars

Ahsoka could also serve as a great introduction to the Unknown Regions. Before The Mandalorian, the last time that many fans knew of her, Ahsoka was with Sabine Wren searching for Ezra Bridger. Ezra had jumped into hyperspace and is assumed to have landed in the Unknown Regions with a captive Grand Admiral Thrawn. While fans did get to see Ahsoka, Sabine Wren is nowhere to be seen; and neither Ezra nor Thrawn seem to have been found.

With this in mind, Ahsoka’s inclusion in a future Star Wars game could help fill out some of the time that passes between Rebels and her appearance in The Mandalorian. A lot can happen in deep space over the span of a few years, and working this time into a game could help flesh out the narrative and begin to present the idea of the mysterious Unknown Regions to more players.

The region of space will probably bear just as much importance in the future as Ahsoka does now. Connecting the two could help to finalize the transition that Star Wars seems to be making as the franchise pushes for characters that can forge independent paths. Ashoka has done this time and time again throughout the franchise, growing beyond the young Padawan learner that Anakin Skywalker once called Snips.

Her character's journey and acceptance that Vader had fallen to the Dark Side, as well as her perseverance to search for her friend Ezra, could all culminate well in almost any Star Wars game. But a story that focuses on elevating what fans know about her and allows her to be an independent narrative agent would be the best way to have Ahsoka Tano present in future Star Wars games.
