Star Trek alumni Jonathan Frakes, best known for his role as first officer Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, has confirmed he will be returning to direct Star Trek: Picard's second season. Frakes directed episodes four and five of the first season and fans were satisfied with his work.

Frakes reports that he was asked to return and direct, a proposition which he was very excited about. The actor has also directed numerous episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Nine, and reprised his role as William Riker in the new television show.
