There is a surprising amount of depth in Star Ocean: The Divine Force and its systems that players can modify and upgrade to their liking. It can be overwhelming at first because one has to remember everything they need to upgrade. One of those systems is the D.U.M.A machine, a piece of tech players will familiarize themselves with early in the game.
The DUMAS is a robotic companion that enhances its user's combat, defense, and traversal abilities in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. It can help the party discover items and collectibles in the field and towns. The DUMA machine will also help the user reach seemingly unreachable heights and speed across lengthy landscapes.
Upgrading The DUMA In Star Ocean
There are two sections for the DUMAS that players can upgrade, DUMA Skill: Battle and DUMA Skill: Field. Upgrading these categories will benefit the party in a variety of ways. With the DUMAS, one can enhance attacks or expand the robot's discovery abilities, and both are vitally important for the party Star Ocean: The Divine Force.
DUMA Skill: Battle
When the DUMA system unlocks, players can assign up to three battle skills that strengthen base performance in combat. Each skill can be strengthened - leveled up - increasing its performance.
- Guardian - Blocking with the DUMA shield increases VA gauge reduction.
- Strike Gain - VA gauge gain when landing an attack
- Reduce Assault - Gauge reduction when reorientating for a blindside attack.
- Extend Stun Lock - Extends the duration of the blindside status
- Evasion Gain - Gain a higher percentage of VA by executing a perfect dodge in Star Ocean 6.
DUMA Skill: Field
DUMA field skills strengthen auxiliary performance on the overworld. Like battle skills, field skills can be strengthened and unlocked with DP. The party will have access to two field skills early in the game.
- Extend Scan - Expands the area of effect for DUMA's scanning, helping the party find hidden chests anywhere in the world.
- Silencer - Reduces the sound of the party's footsteps, making enemies vulnerable to surprise attacks.
Farming DP In Star Ocean: The Divine Force
Unlike skill points, DUMAS points aren't gained through Star Ocean 6's combat or grinding on the overworld. DP is collected by gathering purple gems found on the open map and in towns. DP is rare, but clusters of purple gems worth 10 DP are hidden in Star Ocean: The Divine Force's world.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to farm DP gems, but they can appear in high spots. Players should explore rooftops in towns and villages throughout the game. The DUMA's Free VA mechanic pressing and holding down the R1/RB button will allow the party to reach seemingly unreachable spots.
