After months of missing its previous roadmap targets, Star Citizen released a new update last week that provided the ever-gestating space sim with the shot of fresh content its players needed. And today, developer Cloud Imperium Games revealed even more content that fans will be able to get their hands on later this year, but it’s going to cost them.

On the official Star Citizen YouTube channel this week, CIG unveiled the newest ship being added to the game. Known as the Esperia Talon, the sleek bird-like fighter will come in two variants, each differently tailored for players who prefer hit-and-run combat. The ship will be available sometime in December for $90, which, while a lot, is still far from the most expensive ship ever sold in Star Citizen.

Along with the Talon, the developer also offered a brief update on Star Citizen’s single-player adventure, Squadron 42. That part of the video focused on the motion capture being used for the game’s NPCs, and all of the work going into making their behavior as immersive as possible. The result of all this is that players will be able to interact with NPCs (and vice versa) in several organic ways, with CIG stating, for instance, that NPCs will be able to strike up a conversation with players and will stop if players walk off mid-conversation.

It does sound impressive from a technological standpoint, but whether players will be excited for it when Squadron 42 still lacks a solid release date remains to be seen.

Star Citizen is in development for PC.
