STALKER 2 was announced last August to be coming to PC and Xbox Series X. Developer GSC Game World has been very vocal about the upcoming title as of late, and now one developer has said that players could spend hundreds of hours in STALKER 2.

STALKER 2 is a post-apocalyptic game that sees players fighting to survive in the irradiated wilderness surrounding the site of the Chernobyl meltdown. It promises to give players a large and detailed world for players to explore as they fight to survive, and the title will undoubtedly be rather large when it launches.

The comment on the title's length comes from an interview that Gaming Bolt did with GSC Game World's PR manager Zakhar Bocharov. When asked how long players can expect to spend in the game, Bocharov commented that even just playing through the main quest line is still a long experience, but that players who dedicate themselves to exploration and completing all of the side quests can spend hundreds of hours in a single playthrough. Bocharov also stated earlier this week that it would be absolutely impossible for STALKER 2 to run on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4, which does indicate that the game will properly show off the power of the Xbox Series X/S when it launches.

There is not a lot that is known about the game, but the developers have shown off some of the impressive models that players will see in STALKER 2. However, the first title in the series is well-known for its simulation-inspired mechanics that encourage a slow and methodical approach to the game's encounters.

It does make sense that the slower approach could extend the sequel out to an impressive number of hours for some players. However, Bocharov did not assign any numerical value to how long players will be able to spend in the world of STALKER 2 in a single playthrough, so players will just have to wait until the game launches to find out.

While STALKER 2 was originally announced as an Xbox Series X/S console exclusive, leaked documents have revealed since that the exclusivity could be short-lived. The title stands to take fans back to the irradiated post-apocalyptic wasteland that will be familiar to fans of the first STALKER and promises high-stakes survival FPS gameplay.

It will be interesting to see just how large of a title STALKER 2 ends up being, especially with the developer's announcement that it intends to bring mod support to both the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions of STALKER 2. Of course, claims of games taking hundreds of hours are not completely unheard of, even recently a Cyberpunk 2077 dev spoke about playing almost 200 hours of the game without beating it before the game's launch. Thankfully, STALKER 2 is slated to release sometime this year, so fans won't have too much longer to wait before they can jump back into the apocalypse.

STALKER 2 is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S and is expected to release later this year.
