On Monday, Facebook and all its social media services went down for almost six hours, and some Twitter users found an excellent way to poke fun at it. Fans of Netflix's extremely popular series Squid Game shared several memes related to the show to explain why Twitter was able to survive when Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp faced outages.

The memes consisted of scenes from the Netflix series, which is currently breaking records and expected to become the streamer’s most-watched show ever. To add to the fun, Netflix’s official Twitter account also shared one of the viral memes with a simple caption that read, “When Instagram & Facebook are down.”

One of the most popular memes, which Netflix also shared, is the scene from the first episode of Squid Game where Anupam Tripathi’s Ali helps Jung-jae Lee's Seong Gi-hun survive the first deadly game. As the contestants participate in the “Red Light, Green Light” game, Seong almost trips at one point, which would result in him being eliminated. However, Ali is quick to hold him up and saves his life. The meme refers to Ali as Twitter and Seong as all the social media users around the world.

The popular “Red Light, Green Light” episode spurred another meme, which had the giant animatronic doll from the episode spotting and killing the social media platforms that were down on Monday. In the episode, the doll singing the Korean phrase from the popular children’s game is extremely haunting, especially once the participants realize what being eliminated from the game truly means.

Another meme that has gone viral is from the third episode of Squid Game when the contestants come face-to-face with the honeycomb cookie. In the series, the four shapes that the contestants have to cut out are triangle, circle, star, and umbrella. However, the meme has edited the scene and got four cookies with the Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter logos. It’s quite obvious which one survives.

Squid Game, a Korean dystopian drama, premiered on Netflix in September and has become extremely popular since, even among audiences that do not speak the native Korean language. Fans of a twisted genre of horror seem to be loving Squid Game and gave the show a new meaning through the funny memes that were being shared on Twitter all day Monday. It was surprising to see how well the deadly games from the popular series matched up to the reality of the social media outage.

Squid Game is streaming on Netflix.
