Chaos Rings hasn't received much media attention due to its platform, but don't let that allow you to ignore it. This is a full on Square RPG, brought to you by the makers of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II. And even better, it was released overnight and  is now available in the Apple App Store for your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Featuring a traditional RPG game and battle system, with what's said to be another standout Square story, Chaos Rings has a lot of potential. It's fully 3D and, at least from what I can tell, comparable to Final Fantasy IX in graphics. It also takes full advantage of Apple's touch technology, though I couldn't tell you how exactly that works until I get an opportunity to try it out.

Here's a brief summary of what you can expect from Chaos Rings:

"The story revolves around a tournament where combatants fight for their lives: the Ark Arena. Upon choosing a pair of characters, one male and one female, you will then have to fight against the other pairs. Each pair has their own story, and the truth behind the Ark Arena will not be revealed until each story is completed."

There will be four different scenarios to play through in Chaos Rings for what Square says is, "...hours upon hours of gameplay, complete with hidden bosses, secret weapons, and more." I don't think you could ask for anything more in a Square game.

So now that Chaos Rings' release has snuck up on us, Ranters, is there anyone of you interested in purchasing it? I'm going to read a few first impressions before I take the plunge, but I have a feeling this will be bought and paid for by the end of tomorrow.
