Embracer Group recently confirmed that its acquisition of Square Enix Montreal, Eidos Montreal, and Crystal Dynamics has been finalized, with those studios forming another group under the Embracer umbrella. Alongside its acquisition of these three studios come rights to a back catalog of 50 or so Square Enix IPs. It remains to be seen how this acquisition impacts Guardians of the Galaxy, a great game that did not get the spotlight it deserved, or especially the ongoing live-service Marvel's Avengers title.

It seems safe to assume that Embracer intends to negotiate with Marvel to, at the very least, keep the game going. Crystal Dynamics did recently confirm the Winter Soldier was coming to Marvel's Avengers in the next few months, after all. For Square Enix, though, it seems the company is out in regard to these games and IPs completely, as it cuts prices on every title to disperse any remaining editions and/or digital codes. It's not just Marvel's Avengers and GOTG either, but other games like Thief and Tomb Raider.

Square Enix is dashing prices by 90% across the board. This means players can pick up a copy of Marvel's Avengers for just $2 or Guardians of the Galaxy for $3. Other games in this price range include Tomb Raider: Game of the Year Edition ($2), Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition ($4), Thief ($2) and various Deus Ex games (ranging from $1-$1.50, or $3.30 for an entire collection). It even manages to get cheaper than that, with Thief 3: Deadly Shadows going for 90 cents, the older Tomb of the Raider games going for 70 cents, and other titles like Legacy of Kain being sold for pennies on the dollar too. Fans interested in these deals can check the Square Enix Store for these offerings by searching the relevant titles.

Even something like Marvel's Avengers expensive Earth's Mightiest edition is discounted all the way from $149.99 down to $14.99, which comes with a lot of digital and physical goodies. It should be noted that this sale is likely only while supplies last, since Square Enix is clearing out its now Embracer Group-owned content. Once digital codes and physical editions are gone, they won't be sold by Square Enix (or as cheap) anymore.

Embracer Group has been growing steadily over the past few years and represents a huge chunk of the industry already. In other Embracer Group acquisition news, it recently obtained the IP rights to make a game based on The Lord of the Rings.

At the same time, the KOTOR Remake is in development within the Embracer Group. The KOTOR Remake is now in the hands of Saber Interactive, instead of Aspyr, so it seems Embracer Group's name and style are everywhere, with some of it being promising news and some of it being concerning news all around.
