Square Enix reveals on Twitter that it's planning an exciting announcement tomorrow, but didn't provide any hints as to what the announcement will include.

The last couple years have been very strong for Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider publisher Square Enix. The gaming company has seen many of its games receive high praise, and has others in the works set to release in the coming months.

Despite numerous announcements already shared for upcoming titles, it seems Square Enix has more planned for gamers. According to the publisher’s Twitter account, Square Enix is planning an “exciting announcement” for tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the tweet didn’t provide any details or hints as to what the announcement could be, so naturally gamers are speculating on what they hope Square Enix will reveal tomorrow. There are a whole range of projects the publisher could announce, from the next Tomb Raider to a brand new IP.

Those who think it’s Tomb Raider related harken back to a leak from last year that seemingly revealed the next title in the series, dubbed Shadow of the Tomb Raider. After the massive success of the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013 and the recent Rise of the Tomb Raider, it isn’t surprising that Square Enix is planning another game for the franchise. And considering the two-year break between the last two titles, it makes sense that the next Tomb Raider be released in 2017.

Other gamers are hoping for something related to the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy 15 just released, so there likely won’t be another new Final Fantasy game launched this year. However, 2017 marks the 30th anniversary for the Final Fantasy franchise, so it’s the perfect time for Square Enix to do something with the series. Since there are no hints as to what the announcement is, it very well could be related to remastered Final Fantasy titles, a Final Fantasy collection, or any number of ideas for the franchise.

Then there are those gamers who believe Square Enix will be revealing a new IP. While it’s planning the release of Nier: Automata alongside developer PlatinumGames, the remaining titles planned for this year mostly revolve around ongoing series. Some predict the announcement may have to do with Project Octopath Traveler, the Nintendo Switch titles revealed earlier this week.

Obviously, all of this is simply speculation until the announcement tomorrow, but it hasn’t diminished the excitement and predictions gamers are making online about what Square Enix has in store.
