Less than a month and a half remains between now and E3 2019, and early details about the convention continue to be confirmed by the day. The latest confirmation for this year's E3 is the return of Square Enix Live, the Japanese publisher's annual E3 press conference. E3 viewers from home can watch Square Enix's event starting Monday, June 10 at 6:00 pm PT.

Looking at that time, there should be one major notable change for this year's Square Enix Live. Square Enix appears to be the benefactor of PlayStation's absence at E3 this year, as Sony is skipping E3 2019. Square Enix has leaped at the opportunity, taking the time slot for itself.

Square Enix taking Sony's E3 time slot will be all for naught if it offers a repeat performance of its E3 2018 press conference, which wasn't received particularly well. Many of Square Enix's most exciting games were first shown during Microsoft's press conference, with Square Enix's presser simply offering more of what was previously seen. Hopefully, Square Enix fills its own show with lots of exciting, unique reveals.

As for what Square Enix will be showing, no hints have yet been offered. Square Enix's advantage this year will be going into E3 with plenty of opportunities to surprise. That said, many are speculating about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3's story DLC, and the Crystal Dynamics Avengers game announced in 2017. Square Enix could very well steal the show at E3 2019.

The next generation of video game consoles are on the verge of announcement, meaning E3 2019 is a grand mystery in many respects. Square Enix is a prime example of a publisher with an unclear future going into this generational step forward. The company could flesh out the remaining year or reserve too much of its line-up for release in 2020, which is when new consoles are presumably set to release. E3 2019 should offer many answers, and it looks as though Square Enix has positioned itself to make the most of it.

Square Enix's E3 2019 press conference airs on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 pm PT.
