In its latest report to investors, Activision confirmed that it is planning to release even more remastered games in 2018. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was a huge success when it launched on PS4 last year and the publisher is interested in building on that even more by remastering even more classic games from its library.

There is new evidence that the next series Activision plans to remaster is Spyro the Dragon, the platforming series that featured a purple, fire-breathing dragon in its titular role. Eagle-eyed fans who have been speculating about a Spyro the Dragon remaster for some time noticed that a Twitter account with the handle @SpyroTheDragon had been registered in February. While the account is listed as private (people must send a request in order to follow it) and any tweets are not visible to the public, there are several hints that suggest that Activision plans to use this as the official Spyro Twitter.

For starters, the name of the account is Falcon McBob and Falcon is the codename for an Activision project, as outed by the company's list of registered SAG-AFTRA projects, meaning that voice recording for Falcon has already begun. Another project called the Crash Bandicoot Remaster Project is also listed on that same database, in reference to the N. Sane Trilogy. Using Twitter's password reset functionality, fans were also able to confirm that the Spyro account is registered to an Activision email address.

This fan investigation is backed up by recent reports that a Spyro remaster is coming to PS4 and will be announced this month with a release later this year. And even if skeptics argue that Activision may have just registered the account in order to secure it and to prevent any fans or opportunists from using it to spread false information about its plans for the series, it still begs the question of why now? Fans have been talking about Spyro the Dragon remasters for years and yet Activision has never created an official Spyro Twitter page until now.

If a Spyro remaster really is on the way, fans will hope that it turns out to be like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. While the Crash remasters were harder than the original games, fans and critics widely agreed that they looked and played great and did the original games justice.

According to other reports, Activision also has plans to release a brand new Crash Bandicoot game in 2019, off of the back of the N. Sane Trilogy's success. It's unclear if Activision is considering a similar route for Spyro the Dragon but watch this space for an official announcement.

Spyro the Dragon is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
