The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon hosted a very special treat for anyone who tuned in around halftime: an exclusive sneak preview of the new show Kamp Koral: Spongebob's Under Years. The six minute long clip gave audiences the longest preview yet of what the show will look like when it finally airs on Nick and Paramount+.

Kamp Koral is set to be the first Spongebob Squarepants spin-off series, and will feature a young Spongebob at camp with friends and colleagues from the original show, with most of the original actors returning to voice the characters. The show is planned to premiere exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming app and will make its way to a Nickelodeon run sometime after the first season launches.

Unlike traditional Spongebob Squarepants episodes, the show is animated in 3d, featuring younger and less established versions of the classic characters. The show will follow a 10-uear old Spongebob and his friends at summer camp, learning valuable life lessons and making the friendships that will follow him into his adult years, as seen in the original show.

The sneak preview, in particular, comes from the episode titled The Jellyfish Kid, and consists of more or less 6 minutes of Spongebob attempting to catch his very first jellyfish. The clip features Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy as campers, along with two other unnamed characters. Squidward appears as a sort of camp counselor, while Mr. Krabs and Ms. Puff make appearances as adults running the camp.

As for the clip itself, it's pretty standard Spongebob fare that will be recognizable to any fan of the show. Spongebob is incredibly eager to start catching jellyfish, but is continually delayed by circumstances. When he has to go answer a phone call from his mother, he attempts to do so while also answering the phone, dragging the phone line all over the camp and inflicting mayhem on other campers before finally getting the chance to catch the jellyfish.

Kamp Koral is definitely a departure in visuals and style but seems to be capturing the energy of the original show, which fans will hopefully appreciate. For a character and IP that started off in 1999, it's impressive how the franchise has managed to continue its reign as the king of kids television for so long, and Kamp Koral doesn't seem like it's going to break that streak anytime soon.
