While every player is different and can have their own preferences in a game, numbers don't lie. Some players may prefer close-range weapons, while others prefer to snipe. But in the end, regardless of preference, there are always solid stats to back up which weapon is likely to come out on top in a head-to-head battle.

All the Splitgate weapons have a plethora of numbers that make up their overall stats, and each option has its own unique set of strengths and downfalls. Judging a weapon solely off of a singular stat would be a bit inaccurate, so it's best to take all aspects into account when ranking each weapon. Here is each weapon in Splitgate, ranked by their overall stats.

11 Pistol

Splitgate Pistol

Stats

  • Body Damage: 30
  • Headshot Damage: 40
  • Fire Rate: 0.35 seconds

This is a great last resort weapon to turn to when in a sticky situation. The pistol will always beat an empty gun but outside of these dire conditions, it's not most players' weapon of choice. There's a reason why the pistol is often given as a starter gun when first spawning in many of the casual team games; it's just not the greatest.

Its overall damage is low and its fire rate is definitely one of the slower ones on the list. Overall, the pistol will get the job done but dulls in comparison to many of the other options available.

10 SMG

Splitgate SMG

Stats

  • Body Damage: 10
  • Headshot Damage: 12.5
  • Fire Rate: 0.06 seconds

The SMG is a great option for close to mid-range battles. While the SMG doesn't do an amazing amount of damage per bullet, its real strength is its fire rate. In mid-range battles is when the SMG truly shines, where the gun doesn't spread too much and mostly lands its target.

However, it is only in the most ideal conditions that the SMG is able to deal tons of damage. Once a target is too far, the spread and drop-off damage is very noticeable and will dampen its overall effectiveness.

9 Carbine

Splitgate Carbine

Stats

  • Body Damage: 30
  • Headshot Damage: 40
  • Fire Rate: 0.36 seconds

The Carbine is a bit of an average mid-range gun. It does a decent amount of damage but it's the Carbine's fire rate that pushes it down the rankings among all the other options in the game. While the damage output in both body shots and headshots is substantial, the slow fire rate leaves its user susceptible to enemies that catch the player off guard.

In the event the enemy gets the jump on the player, it's likely that body shots alone won't win the fight when wielding a Carbine.

8 Assault Rifle

Splitgate Assault Rifle

Stats

  • Body Damage: 11.5
  • Headshot Damage: 17
  • Fire Rate: 0.1 seconds

The Assault Rifle is a rather versatile gun. It is yet another gun that excels more in its rapid-fire rate rather than its actual base damage per bullet. The Assault Rifle's zoom is well worth the time as the upped headshot damage is much easier to achieve when taking the time to aim down sights.

However, the Assault Rifle is a great option for those that aren't great at aiming as well, as its fast fire rate gives players allowance for a few misses before finally taking aim and getting the final killing bullet in.

7 Plasma Rifle

Splitgate Plasma Rifle

Stats

  • Body Damage: 17.5
  • Headshot Damage: 17.5
  • Fire Rate: 0.11 seconds

The Plasma Rifle, unlike many of the other guns in the game, deals the same amount of damage for body shots as it does headshots. Because of this, it's almost always better/easier to aim for the body to ensure getting a few good hits in while focusing on a larger part of the target.

This gun may be a viable option for those that aren't comfortable with aiming for headshots, but it's important to take into mind that this gun fires differently than others as it works more like a projectile and will need some getting used to.

6 Battle Rifle

Splitgate Battle Rifle

Stats

  • Body Damage: 15 (x3)
  • Headshot Damage: 25 (x3)
  • Fire Rate: 0.5 seconds

The damage per bullet for the Battle Rifle may seem underwhelming, but that's simply because it is a three-burst gun and fires off three separate bullets for every trigger press. Its damage output (granted that all three bullets hit the target) is multiplied by three, making its overall body damage 45 HP and its headshot damage a whopping 75 HP. However, it's best used in close to mid-range battles as it suffers quite a bit of damage drop off after a certain amount of distance.

The Battle Rifle has decent versatility as it doesn't need to be aimed to ensure kills and also handles well from the hip.

5 Shotgun

Splitgate Shotgun

Stats

  • Body Damage: 200
  • Headshot Damage: 240
  • Fire Rate: 0.9 seconds

Shotguns are, of course, known to be a bit "one-note" in the sense that they lack versatility. Shotguns are only deadly when the enemy is close by. Once a player spots an enemy wielding a rifle from a vantage point, the shotgun is incredibly difficult to pull a victory with.

While this is true in most FPS games, Splitgate offers players an opportunity to turn things around. Shotguns are much more viable in Splitgate from the mere inclusion of portals.

Spot an enemy across a large gap? Quickly shoot a portal behind them to jump in with the advantage.

4 The BFB

Splitgate The BFB

Stats

  • Damage: 150
  • Fire Rate: 0.85 seconds

The BFB is the only melee-only weapon in Splitgate (besides the ball in the Oddball mode) and packs quite the punch. The BFB, while only viable in very close-range fights, is a guaranteed one-hit-kill. The only way to not take out an enemy is if the player swings and misses the target completely.

However, the BFB does in fact have "ammo" and cannot infinitely deal out one-hit-kills. The BFB has an overall charge attached to it. It begins at 100% and depletes 25% of its charge after every kill.

While the BFB is powerful, its reign is a fleeting one that can be easily put to an end with a single well-aimed sniper.

3 Sniper

Splitgate Sniper

Stats

  • Body Damage: 70
  • Headshot Damage: 150
  • Fire Rate: 0.85 seconds

The Splitgate Sniper deals a ton of damage in both body shots and headshots. Like most snipers, it is best at long range, as its slow fire rate can make for a messy close-range battle and offers an instant kill upon a single headshot.

However, this doesn't mean that it isn't a viable option up close at all. The Sniper in Splitgate is decent in those emergency cases where an enemy sneaks up when setting up a vantage spot. The Sniper from the hip feels decently accurate and can fair surprisingly well in dire situations.

2 Rail Gun

Splitgate Rail Gun

Stats

  • Body Damage: 150
  • Headshot Damage: 150
  • Fire Rate: 0.75 seconds

The Rail Gun is once again a special case that deals the same amount of damage when aiming for the head or body. The Rail Gun operates as a charge gun and needs ample time to be charged before releasing a one-hit-kill shot.

Although the Rail Gun wields incredible power, its main downfall is its charging time; without an experienced player behind it, the Rail Gun isn't much of a threat. It holds power but in return, doesn't offer much versatility; in an emergency situation, it's likely the player won't have enough time to charge the gun before the enemy takes care of them first.

1 Rocket Launcher

Splitgate Rocket Launcher

Stats

  • Damage: 350 (5m radius)
  • Fire Rate: 1 second

The Rocket Launcher is unmatched when it comes to powerful weapons that are well-rounded. Unlike the other weapons that can insta-kill enemies, the Rocket Launcher is the most reliable and most consistent. The Rocket Launcher deals ridiculous amounts of damage at both close and far range, can take out multiple enemies at once, doesn't require perfect aim for a kill, and doesn't even require a direct hit to inflict damage.

However, with all the power the Rocket Launcher holds, it's worth noting that the player themself is susceptible to the rocket's splash damage. Therefore, it's best not to be too trigger-happy when an enemy sneaks up looking for a melee kill.
