Splitgate: Arena Warfare may have flown under the radar for many when it launched last year, but it's standing front and center with the start of its second season. Season 2 practically completely overhauls the game, breaking the boundary between it and the title of a Triple A quality game.

For those unfamiliar, Splitgate: Arena Warfare claims to combine the best of Portal and Halo to create a unique and engaging shooter experience. Players will duke it out with one another in an arena style while throwing grenades through portals or using their momentum to travel across maps.

Season 2 features new content, performance optimizations, graphics improvements and more, and is essentially a remake of the game, putting its already great ideas much more in line with what fans expect from modern day video games in a technical sense. There is also a new map, an arena pass, and completely revamped matchmaking.

What's more, the game is completely free on Steam at the moment, meaning gamers have no reason not to check it out if the concept interests them. With all of these improvements in season 2, now's the best time to jump into Splitgate: Arena Warfare.

Splitgate: Arena Warfare is available now for free exclusively on PC.
