A new Splinter Cell game could be in development if an Italian voice actor is to be believed. In an interview with Multiplayer.it, the voice actor for the Italian language Sam Fisher claims that a new Splinter Cell is in the works. They also claim that it could arrive as soon as 2021.

Speaking with Multiplayer.it's Pierpaolo Greco at the UltraPop Festival, voice actor Luca Ward described that he believes Ubisoft is working on the "conclusive episode" of the Splinter Cell franchise, though Ward admits that he's not entirely sure about how the new game fits into the Splinter Cell story.

Ward goes on to say that this new Splinter Cell game was tentatively planned for 2020, but that it and several other Ubisoft projects "got stuck." He's perhaps referring to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on game development. It isn't clear whether Ward is referring to the game starting development or being released. He is, however, certain that a game will be made eventually, saying that, "Splinter Cell will return, that's a fact."

Ward's reliability deserves to be called into question. He's previously hinted at a new Splinter Cell game as far back as 2018 that never led to anything. It also isn't clear if Ward has actually done work for a new Splinter Cell game or if he's repeating something he's heard. Either way, it's difficult to trust the accuracy of Ward's claims. But Ward, at the very least, is persuaded that a new Splinter Cell is in the works. It may not even be in development yet, but he's persuaded nonetheless.
