E3 2018 is now less than three months away, meaning that the rumors are fully flowing about which major new games will be announced at the event. Ubisoft has already confirmed that it will be revealing The Division 2, but what else does the major video game publisher have in store for fans?

According to a newly discovered online listing, Ubisoft may be gearing up to announce a new Splinter Cell game during its E3 2018 press conference. Eagle-eyed fans spotted a listing for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018 on Amazon Canada. The listing stated that it is owned by Ubisoft, though no platform information has been confirmed. So, it's unclear whether this unannounced title would be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, or Xbox One.

The listing does not feature box art, and despite the title of the listing having 2018 in it, no actual release date or release window is mentioned elsewhere. Curiously, the model number for the listing is "E3TomClancy'sSplinterCell2018_PC", sparking further speculation that a new Splinter Cell game will be announced at E3 2018. There is little in the listing to confirm its validity and whether this is a legitimate listing posted prematurely by Ubisoft and Amazon.

However, the listing is not the only reason why fans think that Ubisoft could be about to unveil a brand new Splinter Cell game. The last game in the series was Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which released all the way back in 2013. In comparison, the last Splinter Cell game before that was released in 2010 (Splinter Cell: Conviction), and before that Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Splinter Cell: Essentials were released in 2006. This means that the five-plus year gap between Blacklist and the next Splinter Cell game would be the longest time between two core games in the franchise. As such, fans say that it is about time that Ubisoft releases a new one.

Moreover, Ubisoft teased a new in the franchise around nine months ago. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Splinter Cell is one of his favorite series and is a franchise that the company talks about "a lot," with the comments generating rumors that a new game is in development. Around the same time, Guillemot gave another interview where he stated that all of the games in the Tom Clancy series are coming along nicely and that Splinter Cell hasn't been forgotten.

With The Division 2 now officially confirmed and with Ghost Recon: Wildlands making a new Ghost Recon unlikely (for a while anyway), the question is, just which other Tom Clancy games was Guillemot referring to? A new Splinter Cell game seems like a possibility then, but fans may have to wait until E3 2018 to find out more.
