The Tacticooler is a special weapon in Splatoon 3 that is available to players that use the Dapple Dualies, Dynamo Roller, H-3 Nozzlenose, and N-ZAP '85. While the in-game description, which states that the Tacticooler enhances some abilities for a brief time, does provide some information about the special weapon, it is quite vague. This may leave some players wanting more details on the Tacticooler in Splatoon 3, and that is exactly what is contained within this guide.

Splatoon 3: What Does the Tacticooler Do?

Upon approaching a Tacticooler that was deployed by the player or one of their teammates, they will receive significant increases to the following abilities: Ink Resistance Up, Intensify Action, Quick Respawn, Quick Super Jump, Run Speed Up, Special Saver, and Swim Speed Up. More specifically, 57 ability points are applied to each of these abilities when under the effects of a Tacticooler's drinks. This is the equivalent of having each ability in three main ability slots and nine secondary ability slots, and it is quite significant.

With respect to the duration of these bonuses, by default they last for 15 seconds or until the player that is affected by them is splatted. However, the effects can be extended if the player that deployed the Tacticooler dedicates some of their ability slots to the Special Power Up ability. While fans may ultimately determine it is not worth using their precious ability slots in this way, they may want to spend some ability chunks in Splatoon 3 to test things out for themselves.

One final thing to mention is that the immediate respawn that is granted by the Tacticooler's buff to the Quick Respawn ability will be counteracted if the player is splatted by an opponent with the Respawn Punisher ability. This is quite a specific scenario, though, and it certainly does not mean that fans should avoid this special weapon. Indeed, the Tacticooler is extremely powerful even when it does not provide an instant respawn, and some Splatoon 3 players may even believe that it needs a nerf.

Of course, fans do sacrifice opportunities to get some very easy splats on their opponents by using the Tacticooler over other special weapons in Splatoon 3. A Reefslider, for instance, can almost always generate at least one splat when used thoughtfully, and some fans may value that over the buffs provided by a Tacticooler. It is always nice to have a teammate that is handing out drinks, though, and players should make sure to take advantage of them whenever it is possible to do so.

Splatoon 3 is available for Nintendo Switch.
