The Spicy, Sweet, and Sour Splatoon 3 Splatfest has come to an end, and with it, the winner has been revealed. Players fought hard all weekend to help bring their teams to the top of the leaderboard, but at the end of the Splatfest, only one Splatoon 3 idol's team can be declared the winner.

Splatoon 3's Team Sweet took the lead early on in the game, though those leads don't always hold up, depending on how players react and perform in subsequent turf war battles. The sneak peek stage of the Splatfest put Team Sweet in the lead, and the halfway mark also saw Team Sweet leading the pack, giving Team Sour and Team Spicy reason to team up and work against Team Sweet in Tri-Color Battles.

Shortly following the end of the final Splatfest battle, the results have been officially revealed. In the end, Team Spicy and Team Sour couldn't compete with the overall popularity and wins of Team Sweet, though they fought hard to take it back. The votes break down as follows:

With 30 points, Team Sweet wins, giving the Spatsville idol Frye her first win of the series thus far. Many Splatoon fans rallied around the idea of fighting hard for the idol to win, though a simple popularity vote wouldn't have been enough to do it. In the end, all of the teams worked hard, but Team Sweet managed to hold on until the end.

Not everything about the Splatfest was smooth sailing. The latest feature added to the game allows winning players of 100x and 333x battles to board their team's float to take pictures with their representative idol. However, players were befuddled to find that their playable Octolings had become Inklings while posing for pictures. Ultimately, it's just a glitch, and a rather memorable one, but it will most likely be patched out before the next Splatfest occurs.

As for when the next Splatfest will be remains unknown at this time. It's likely that the current trend of skipping a month or more between Splatfests will continue. This may give players some time to relax in comparison to the incredible pace Splatoon 2 Splatfests sometimes demanded, but others have been left wanting more. For now, players will just have to watch and see if another Splatfest or even a Big Run is to follow.

Splatoon 3 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
