Splatoon 3 players can deck out their character with all sorts of clothing items like hats, shirts, and shoes, and each one has its own set of abilities that can help turn the tide in Turf War battles and other modes. One of the most useful abilities that Splatoon 3 players should know about is Special Power Up. And as the name suggests, the ability can upgrade players' special weapons.

Each ink-filled gun in Splatoon 3 has its own special weapon attached to it, like the Crab Tank, Wave Breaker, or Ultra Stamp, for example. And if players have the Special Power Up skill equipped, they can make their already-powerful special weapon even stronger.

Can You Equip Special Power Up to Your Gear?

If Splatoon 3 players have found an awesome outfit that they can't part ways with but don't like its current set of abilities, they can speak to Murch to try and equip the Special Power Up ability to the gear.

Murch is found to the right of the online multiplayer lobby; speak to him, and then press Add Abilities. Pick out the gear and then choose the ability to equip. However, before players can equip the Special Power Up ability, they will need to use Ability Chunks. For side abilities, it'll cost 10 Ability Chunks, but if players want the Special Power Up as the main ability, it'll cost 45 Ability Chunks

To get Ability Chunks, players will need to use the Scrub Slots option when speaking to Murch.

However, another way to get the Special Power Up ability is to spend Drink tickets at the food stand in the lobby. Order the Smoothie Especial, and any Gear will gain more XP and is more likely to receive the Special Power Up ability when it levels up.

Splatoon 3 is available for the Nintendo Switch.
