Splatoon 3's Salmon Run mode returns, allowing players to team up with randoms (or friends) in a horde-inspired mode. Players will be given a weapon at random and need to destroy a bunch of monsters, collect their Golden Eggs, and drop them off at the base to hit the quota before time runs out. And one of Splatoon 3's significant improvements makes it so that Salmon Run is available at any time of the day. Back in previous Splatoon games, Salmon Run was only available for specific periods of time.

How to Play Salmon Run Mode

To get the chance to experience Salmon Run mode, Splatoon 3 players need to get to level 4 by hopping into online matches in the Lobby. Whether players win or lose, they'll still gain experience points towards their level. Reaching level 4 is super important, as it unlocks other things around Splatsville, like Tableturf Card Battles and the Locker Room.

Salmon Run Location

Splatoon 3's Salmon Run mode can be played by fast traveling to Grizzco by pressing the X button to open the map. Once the map is opened, go to Grizzco and press A. This will instantly take players to the area where Salmon Run mode can be played. If players want to walk to Grizzco themselves, look for the business with the large orange sign to the right of the Lobby. If players leave the Lobby and face the staircase, look to the left --it's hard to miss.

How Does Salmon Run Work?

Once players make it inside Grizzco, interact with the orange cooler to get started on a shift. There will be several waves of Salmonids trying to attack the player, and the team needs to beat them to collect their Golden Eggs. After grabbing an egg, players can toss them into the egg basket to score points. If the quota isn't filled, the shift will come to an end; however, extra points can be earned if players go above and beyond and gather extra Golden Eggs before time runs out.

Sometimes, extra powerful Salmonids, King Salmonids, will appear during a Salmon Run shift. When they come out, the Power Egg quota will be waived, allowing players to focus on defeating the beast. Players can then earn unique fish scales that can be turned in to unlock new Work Suits, Decorations, Stickers, and Banners.

Splatoon 3 is available as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
