In order to earn Fish Scales, players must put their efforts toward dealing damage to King Salmonids in Salmon Run. This meter appears directly below the progress bar that players will see in the top-right corner of the screen when they are standing in Grizzco, and it is filled simply by playing matches of Salmon Run in Splatoon 3.
To note, the Hazard Level of a particular Salmon Run match informs which type of Fish Scales are awarded for damaging the King Salmonid. More specifically, the chance of receiving higher-rarity Fish Scales increases as the Hazard Level does. For full clarity, Hazard Level is determined by the sum of all the participants' ranks, which means that a group of high-level Profreshional rank players will have a much higher Hazard Level and chance of earning Gold Fish Scales than a group of Apprentice rank Splatoon 3 players.
