For those planning to purchase Splatoon 3 digitally through the Switch eShop, know that the expected release time is around 9 PM PT the night before the game's release, which would be Thursday, September 8.
How Many Players in Splatoon 3
For most of the game modes in Splatoon 3, only up to eight players will be on a map at a given time. Turf Wars, the primary mode in Splatoon 3, is four vs. four. However, in the Tricolor Turf War battles during Splatfests, there will be a team of four vs. two teams of two. While the team composition is different from standard Turf Wars, only eight players still play at one time.
It's worth mentioning that the story mode component of Splatoon 3 is only single-player.
Is Splatoon 3 Free?
Splatoon 3 is not a free game. The retail and digital versions of the game will cost folks around $59.99. There will also be paid DLC down the line for players to check out.
Is Splatoon 3 the Last Game?
With Splatoon being such a big franchise for Nintendo, it doesn't make much sense to end the series after only putting out three entries. No, Splatoon 3 is not an open-world game in any sense. The story mode levels are pretty linear, with each one only taking a few minutes for players to complete. And the multiplayer modes are all in self-contained maps.
Is Splatoon 3 Coming to PC, Xbox, or PlayStation?
Players should not expect Splatoon 3 to come to other platforms besides the Nintendo Switch.
