Hot on the heels of the recent Splatoon 2 concert featuring the idols from both games, Nintendo has now revealed plans to release new Pearl and Marina amiibo. Splatoon 2's two idols will be released as a set for a MSRP of $24.99.

Fans have been awaiting an announcement regarding this amiibo set for quite a while. Despite the Wii U's poor sales figures, the original Splatoon was popular enough to receive multiple amiibo, including a set featuring the idols from the first game, Callie and Marie. While Nintendo has been tight-lipped about what the new Splatoon 2 Off the Hook amiibo set might do, if it's following in the footsteps of the Callie and Marie release, chances are the idols will perform their music on-demand for the player. They may also offer unique equipment and the ability to memorize the player's loadout, akin to the other Splatoon amiibo released thus far.

Unfortunately, Nintendo has not yet revealed a release date for the amiibo set. It's possible that more information may come during the next Nintendo Direct release, but Splatoon 2 update reveals have a history of appearing online seemingly at random, much to the delight of its fanbase. As such, gamers will need to keep their eyes open for updates regarding the popular idol set.

As Splatoon 2 and the Nintendo Switch have been breaking gaming sales records left and right, there's a strong possibility that this amiibo set will sell out quickly. Nintendo isn't yet taking pre-orders, but interested gamers should consider placing one as soon as it becomes possible. Nintendo has improved its limited stock problems since amiibo began their release, but between supply limitations and scalpers, gamers often still have difficulty finding the amiibo they're looking for in stores.

Splatoon 2 is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The Pearl and Marina amiibo set currently doesn't have a release date, and will be available for $24.99.
