Nintendo announced new content is on the way for its third-person shooter Splatoon 2, including a new map, a new weapon, and a new Splatfest mode. This also coincides with the announcement of two new Amiibos from the game, Splatfest hosts Pearl and Marina.

The new map is the Goby Arena, which is a sports arena that has been converted into a battleground for Splatoon 2's various game modes and features a basketball court. The map will offer plenty of areas where players will be able to get the tactical advantage on their opponents and rain down ink on the enemy team.

Next up, the new weapon revealed is the Dark Tetra Dualies. With it equipped, players will be able dodge roll up to four times in a row, allowing them to traverse the map quickly, escape danger, or get into better position to splat enemy players. This will add to other new weapons that have been released for the game, like the Inkbrush.

It was also announced on the developer's Tumblr page that a new Splatfest mode, Money vs Love, would be making it's way to the game this coming weekend. Players will be able to pick sides and battle it out to see which ideal will prevail, with the mode lasting from 9 PM PT on February 16 until February 17 at 9 PM PT.

The most recent Splatfest took place in January and pitted two film genres against each other with the Action vs Comedy match-up. The first post-launch Splatfest released last summer and had two condiment choices duke it out in Ketchup vs Mayo.

While the dates for the Splatfest were provided, there is no official word on when the new weapon or map will be released. As with all previous post-launch content for the game, these will be free of charge. On top of the Splatfests, Splatoon 2 has been getting a generous amount of DLC, with new weapons and modes, like the popular coop horde mode Salmon Run.

Splatoon 2 is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
