When the final universe was revealed for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it was assumed that all of the pieces of the puzzle were in place. Then Activision blows our minds when they reveal that Stan Lee will be narrating the game allowing him to edge out Hugh Hefner as the old guy with his hands in the most honey jars. It may seem like Stan Lee was just the tip of the iceberg, as a new “Scarlet Suit Spidey” is unveiled with some gameplay to boot.

Shattered Dimensions sees four iterations of Spider-Man working in tandem to retrieve pieces to a tablet that will bring balance back to the force universe. We have already shown you one of the villains Spidey will face in the game but with four universes there will definitely be a wide array of new faces and old.

My feeling on this game is that something doesn’t quite smell right. You could even say my “spidey senses” are tingling. Activision is putting so much effort in the nostalgia category that there has to be some sort of flaw they are hiding. With a plethora of Spider-Man games, some of them great, others failing Spider-Man 3 style, convincing gamers to play another one is a tough sell. More of the same is not an option when there is a lack of consistency across the Spider-Man web-slinging games.

We are not far off from getting our hands on the game so be sure to stay tuned to Game Rant for the inevitable review. Until then always remember to tip your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
