Spider-Man: No Way Home is just around the corner and it is expected to be one of the biggest MCU films to date, largely due to the return of many familiar faces from previous Spider-Man films. While it's not certain if all of the original actors will be back in their roles, faces such as Rhys Ifans, who is best known for portraying Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man, have teased their return in the highly anticipated MCU film.

While both Sandman and Lizard have been confirmed to return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, whether or not Thomas Haden Church from Spider-Man 3 and Ifans will play those characters again is less clear. Ifans addressed the hype surrounding the upcoming MCU entry and if his past portrayal as the comic book character would have any involvement, simply saying fans will have to wait and see.

"Well, you know, like most Christmas presents, the good thing is not knowing what's in them until it's time to open them," Ifans teased during an interview with Murphy's Multiverse. It's still unclear just how much screen time many of these Spider-Man villains will have when they return. However, it will no doubt be a welcoming return, as the idea of characters crossing over from other universes like Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy has been building up for quite a while.

Spider-Man: No Way Home picks up where Spider-Man: Far From Home left off, as Peter Parker seeks Doctor Strange's help in restoring his identity after the world finds out who Spider-Man really is. Through the use of this magic, Parker must then deal with multiversal consequences. The film will no doubt be one of the biggest not just during the pandemic era but in recent years, as Spider-Man: No Way Home has seen the biggest fandango pre-sales since Avengers: Endgame, in addition to its story being compared to Avengers: Endgame's scope.

And now with the embargo lifted after the film's big Los Angeles premiere, early reviews from critics have been pouring in, and they have been overwhelmingly positive. From Tom Holland's performance as the web-slinger being praised as his best yet to the exciting action and the story's emotional weight, Spider-Man: No Way Home is making its case as the MCU's best film yet. And while there are only a few days before fans are able to see it on the big screen, it'll be tough to avoid any Spider-Man: No Way Home spoilers, as this has been one of the most talked-about and hyped-up films in recent memory.

Spider-Man: No Way Home also stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Jamie Foxx as Electro, J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theatres on December 17th, 2021.
