A month ago, Spider-Man: No Way Home swung into theaters and has been shattering records ever since. While receiving a lot of praise from both fans and critics around the world, it has now earned a sweet spot on the domestic box office list in the US and has become the fourth highest-grossing film of all time.

Figures from the box office on Monday confirmed that Spider-Man: No Way Home has earned $702.6 million in ticket sales in the US alone since its release on December 17. That’s not all, as the film has earned $1.6 billion globally, making it the eighth highest-grossing film at the global box office. The final chapter of Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy seems to have won hearts worldwide.

Over the past weekend, Spider-Man: No Way Home bypassed its Marvel Cinematic Universe predecessor Black Panther. The Chadwick Boseman-led film was a defining movie for the MCU for many reasons. Not only did it earn millions of dollars at the domestic box office, but it was also Marvel Studios' first Black-superhero led film. It created a new legacy in the MCU’s history, finally adopting Stan Lee's vision of diversity, and had held the fourth spot on the domestic box office list until now.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has now joined the ranks of the top 5 highest-grossing films in the US, which include Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $936.7 million, Avengers: Endgame at $858.4 million, Avatar at $760.5 million, and Black Panther at $700.4 million. The Multiversal flick is also among the top 10 biggest movies of all time globally. The list is led by James Cameron's Avatar with a whopping $2.8 billion.

Before the film was released, Spider-Man: No Way Home was the topic of conversation among MCU fans for months. Fan theories about multiple Spider-Men fighting together in the film flooded the internet, and fans were convinced that they had spotted Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield on the sets of the film. Garfield lied about his involvement as Spider-Man in the film in multiple interviews prior to its release.

Fans were not wrong, as the Multiverse brought forward the Amazing Spider-Man and the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to fight alongside Holland's version of the web-slinging hero. Apart from them, several of the villains from previous Spider-Man films also made an appearance, wrapping up Holland's trilogy in the most perfect way.
