Spider-Man: No Way Home has swung its way into the 12th spot for all-time movie earnings. As of January 2, 2022, Tom Holland's latest Spider-Man flick has made $1.37 billion globally, which puts it right below Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.40 billion).

Spider-Man: No Way Home picks up right where Far From Home left off and takes the wall crawler into some uncharted territory that fans have been thoroughly enjoying. The making of Spider-Man: No Way Home was only possible at this point in cinema history and could've only worked now. They had one shot to make a film of this magnitude, and Marvel Studios and Sony managed to pull it off. So it is no surprise that this film made it to the all time earnings list.

While the pandemic and the rise of the Omicron variant may prevent No Way Home from having the box office success as past Spider-Man films, the web-slinger's latest film doesn't appear to be suffering too much at the box office. Per Deadline, after recently earning $78.3 million in 61 international box office markets, Spider-Man: No Way Home saw its overseas total gross rise to $759 million. By racing past the $1 billion mark and becoming the 12th biggest film of all time globally, Spider-Man: No Way Home also earned the title of 2021's number one film worldwide. Spider-Man: No Way Home is still having showings throughout the holidays and the beginning of this year, so fans should expect the film to continue to earn more money as it keeps the screenings running.

Most films this year struggled to compete with their previous earnings. For example, Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned only half of what the first movie did, but it was still celebrated as a success because many did not expect it to come close due to the lower amounts of people showing up to the theater. So for Spider-Man: No Way Home to make $1 billion is an incredibly impressive feat, to say the least.

The fact that Marvel Studios, Disney, and Sony have been able to work together in a cohesive way has only been beneficial to the fans. The pairing is responsible for making monumental comic book history and will hopefully continue to be on these same good terms moving forward. The upcoming MCU films will no doubt be affected by the events that transpired during Spider-Man: No Way Home, so here's to hoping that Marvel Studios keeps bringing its A-game and gets fans back on the hype train.

Should Spider-Man: No Way Home release on Disney Plus, the viewing numbers are sure to go up signifigantly in comparison to what it did in theaters. People being able to watch from the comfort of their home, and multiple times at that, will no doubt make the movie be something pivotal on the streaming platform.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently out in theaters.
