Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the most anticipated games of this year, and one of the first ones to come out for the next-gen PlayStation. This game will smoothen the transition between this generation and the next, so it's expected that a whole lot of people will play this game to see how games will feel like on the new console. On top of that, this is a character that is already beloved by many, and it is a follow-up to a game that was also very well-received.

A lot of things are riding on this game, and a lot of eyes are on it. Spider-Man fans' eyes are sharper than most, though, and they have no doubt spotted a few details regarding the game from its trailer.

10 Puerto Rican Flag

Puerto Rico flag seen on screen.

Those who are familiar with the character prior to his appearance in the prior Spider-Man game will know that he is of African-American and Puerto Rican descent, with his father being the former and his mother the latter. The Puerto Rican flag can be seen scattered everywhere in the trailer, first when he sneaks into his bedroom, and even more as he moves towards the rally.

The abundance of the flag makes sense if you consider that Miles' mother, his Puerto Rican parent, is running for office. An acknowledgment from the developer's side the fans and Puerto Rican gamers will surely appreciate.

9 Ganke Lee

Ganke Lee and Miles Morales.

The first character Miles interacts with in the gameplay trailer is none other than Ganke Lee. Ganke Lee is Miles' Korean-American best friend. In the comics, it was actually he who first took notice of Miles' newfound superhero ability, and the first one to liken it to that of Spider-Man. In the game, however, since we already know that Miles had already told Peter about his abilities, it is unknown if Ganke knew before or after Peter.

Interestingly, Peter Parker and Ned Leeds' relationship in Spider-Man: Homecoming in the MCU is very similar to Miles and Ganke's in the comics. Both Ned and Ganke knew about Peter and Miles' abilities very early on, both have acted as the superheroes' confidants, and both are best friends to the heroes.

8 Peter Parker's Whereabouts

Peter Parker has noticeably been absent on the gameplay trailer, or the previous trailers for that matter. It is still unclear whether or not Peter Parker is going to be in this game, but the developers of the game have assured fans that Peter Parker is doing just fine and his story isn't over yet, this game will simply just focus on Miles' story.

The developers have left a large mural keen observers have surely spotted, though, that references the OG wall-crawler. Just as Miles and Ganke have left their apartment building to head to the rally, a large graffiti of Peter's Spider-Man can be seen on a wall at the left corner of the screen.

7 Rio Morales

Jeff, Rio, and Miles.

Rio Morales is the mother of Miles Morales. She was first introduced into this universe in the previous game. There are a lot of interesting differences between the game version of Rio and her comic book version. In the game, she was a teacher, while she was a nurse in the comics. The most drastic difference is that she died in the comics, while in the game, it was her husband.

Rio is seen as running for office in the gameplay trailer. It is still yet unknown how this will become relevant in the overall story, or if she's aware of her son's secret identity. If she wins her position and learns that Miles and Spider-Man are one and the same, it may create an interesting subplot for the characters, something more akin to Miles' relationship with his father in the comics.

6 Roxxon

Roxxon wasn't very prominent in the first game. Its building can be shown and visited in the Financial District of the map, though. In Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it seems the fuel conglomerate will have a much larger presence. In the gameplay trailer, Roxxon soldiers are shown present at Rio Morales' rally. It's unclear if this is an indication of an alliance between the two, or if the corporation is sponsoring Rio's campaign.

One of the most prominent figures tied to Roxxon is Dario Agger, the president of the company. As it so happens, Dario is also the supervillain called Minotaur. Whether he'll be in the game or not is still yet to be announced.

5 The Underground

The Underground is a group of criminals who are seen attacking Roxxon for an experimental energy source known as "newform." In this game, the Underground are led by The Tinkerer, a villain from Spider-Man's rogue gallery.

Although The Underground seems like an original group, there is a group in the comics that goes by the same name, but their purposes and line ups couldn't be further apart. A group called "The Underground" in the comics was created by Hawkeye to oppose Hydra's regime. The Underground group in this game seems to be operating mainly out of personal interest, but this is still yet to be expanded upon.

4 Miles' Unique Abilities

Invisible Spider-Man.

In the gameplay trailer, the fans finally got a glimpse of how Miles looks like in action. It is very clear that he fights and moves very similarly with Peter Parker's Spider-Man, but he does have a few abilities unique to him and a few nuances that's different from Peter's fighting style.

Two of Miles' abilities Peter don't have are his abilities to manipulate electricity and become invisible. Both of these abilities are highlighted in the game, and there even seems to be a progress bar for his camouflage ability. As seen on the gameplay, Miles' attacks are more emphasized on punches and swings, while Peter is more of a kicker in battle.

3 The Tinkerer

The Tinkerer.

The one seen leading the criminal organization, The Underground, is the villain known as The Tinkerer. This game's version of The Tinkerer is very different with its comic counterpart. The Tinkerer's original identity is Phineas Mason, a male engineer and scientist who has the tendency to work and create weapons for villains, usually to be used against Spider-Man.

The game's version of The Tinkerer seems to be female, and she's a much more agile and fierce version of the character. She's seen to engage Miles in hand-to-hand combat, which is something the original Tinkerer cannot do.

2 Oscorp

Norman and Harry Osborn.

Oscorp played a very large role in the first game, which is understandable considering how vital this organization and name is in the Spider-Man mythos. We know that both Norman and Harry Osborn are still alive in this universe, with hints of the latter taking up the mantle of Venom, it is unknown if they're going to be in this game or not.

There is an Easter egg of Oscorp present in the gameplay trailer, though. On the aftermath of the battle on the bridge between Roxxon and the Underground, with Spider-Man caught in the middle, an Oscorp van can be seen amidst the chaos.

1 Signature Pose

Miles holding a bridge together.

Perhaps one of the most iconic moments of the gameplay trailer is this game's iteration of the now-iconic Spider-Man pose that was first popularized by Sam Raimi's Spider-Man in Spider-Man 2, when the hero had to stop a speeding train from plunging to the Earth below. It was then recreated by MCU's Spider-Man when their version of the hero had to stop a ship from falling apart.

In a funny attempt to recreate the scene, the Spider-Man game in 2018 tried to do something similar, but ultimately failed to do so. This game's version of this moment is very intense and shows just how powerful Miles Morales is, with him doing the stretched-arms pose to hold an entire bridge together.
