TGS has been a pretty decent showing so far for Marvel vs. Capcom fans. We’ve seen gameplay trailers confirming the two characters Tron Bonne (Capcom) and X-23 (Marvel), but now another series of trailers has hit the world wide web showing off one returning character and another highly requested newcomer. Ranters, please welcome your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Resident Evil’s Albert Wesker to Marvel vs. Capcom 3‘s roster.
The character introductions and gameplay footage were captured in Tokyo by Gamespot, so you’ll hear people cheering on their favorite characters in a foreign language in less than ideal video quality. That being said it’s not at all terrible and you can easily make out what’s going on. It’s the people talking in the background that always drive me nuts, but you can determine if that’s a negative factor for yourself by checking out Wesker in the video below.
It’s nice to see Wesker, Resident Evil’s reoccurring super-villain, still doing well after the events at the end of Resident Evil 5. Glad to see Wesker make the cut for this game, as it’s filled to the brim with villains from both Marvel and Capcom. Wesker gained his abnormal super speed and strength through a special concoction that he injected himself with to avoid death. He’s one of the baddest men on the planet and will make a great addition to the MvC lineup. I, for one, am just glad to finally see Resident Evil get more than one representative this time around. Still hoping for Jill to make an appearance though… maybe even Leon.
Spider-Man fans were starting to get a little nervous about the lack of New York’s nimble web head, but now they can finally relax and look forward to trying him and some of his brand new moves out. For the most part Spider-Man seems to retain most of his original move set, but has a few new web zip-line styled maneuvers to place himself behind other combatants. He is still rocking the traditional red and blue outfit, so if you were hoping for some different costumes then you’ll have to settle with Shattered Dimensions.
It’s great to see these characters, especially Spider-Man, included in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. While this is awesome news we’re still waiting on a confirmation for Megaman, who has not been seen anywhere in the game yet. If they leave out the blue bomber I’ll probably burst into tears and start a forum about boycotting this game, or you know I’ll get over it and enjoy MvC3 regardless. Whatever the cooler option is.
What do you guys think about Wesker and Spider-Man making an appearance? Who are you still hoping will make the cut into Marvel vs. Capcom 3?
