Marvel's Spider-Man has been breaking all kinds of records since the game launched in September, and now it has another accolade to hang on its belt—it is the fastest selling superhero game of all time in the US. While the game had already previously become the fastest selling Marvel video game, it had not been able to unseat Batman: Arkham Knight for the top spot.

The news of this latest achievement by Marvel's Spider-Man comes via a tweet from Mat Piscatella of the NPD Group.

It's certainly impressive that Spider-Man continues to set records including this one, but the game has been a favorite straight out of the gate. It quickly became Sony's fastest selling game of the year beating out the PS4's other huge first-party exclusive, God of War. But perhaps, most impressive is that Spider-Man was able to set many of its records as a PS4-exclusive. Arkham Knight released on multiple platforms and yet Spider-Man has still managed to best it as the fastest-selling superhero game.

The game is still engaging players with its The City That Never Sleeps DLC chapters, with the third and final chapter, Silver Lining, releasing December 21. Plus, as a surprise to fans (after some heated pressure from said fans) developer Insomniac Games just added the Sam Raimi/Toby Maguire suit to the game, free to all players.

With 2018 coming to a close, so are the opportunities for Marvel's Spider-Man to continue breaking records for this year, but it will be worth keeping an eye on the game to see if it can set any longer term records as it moves in 2019. For anyone still wanting to check the game out, Spider-Man is actually on sale now as part of Sony's Holiday Sale on the PlayStation Network Store with both the standard and Digital Deluxe versions of the game getting a discount.

Marvel's Spider-Man is available now exclusively for PS4.
