Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC received a brand-new patch on October 6th, 2022 containing a number of performance improvements. This marks the sixth patch since Spider-Man Remastered's launch on PC and should be a welcome update for any fan swinging through the busy streets of New York.

Following its port to PC, previous patches for the game included necessary QOL improvements such as auto-save backups, squashing a game-breaking bug that caused some players using mouse and keyboard to experience sporadic camera movement, and even some prep work for the upcoming Intel ARC GPUs. This latest update to the game looks to further refine the experience with a focus on improving its already impressive visuals.

The patch notes for version 1.1006.0.0 dropped today on the game's Steam community page with a few major highlights. The team began by thanking players who helped identify a resource allocation issue when ray tracing was enabled which resulted in poorer performance overall. They confirmed this patch would resolve this issue as well as improve ray tracing overall by reducing the flicker and corruption found when DLSS or DLAA are enabled or when using an Intel ARC GPU. The performance improvements don't stop there though as they have also adjusted VRAM allocation, fixed some visual glitches when playing in a 32:9 aspect ratio, and even added a nice way to link PlayStation and Steam accounts.

This link will allow players to connect their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts which will enable notifications for PlayStation offers or updates. For players looking for more incentive, if not already capped, anyone who links their accounts will receive 2 skill points, the Resilient Suit, and the Concussive Blast Gadget. The developers did warn to retain this additional content, players will have to keep the link intact for as long as they play the game.

This extended support of Spider-Man Remastered on PC as well as the further integration of PlayStation Network accounts into Steam may be a sign of continued interest in future PC releases for PlayStation. Gamers have had trouble getting their hands on PS5 consoles, so pushing first-party titles through other platforms seems like a solid strategy. PC players also benefit from this move as they can now experience titles that were previously gated off because of their gaming platform of choice. Only time will tell whether this trend continues as those aforementioned hurdles are solved.
