One of the most popular products this holiday season is Sony's PlayStation 5 console, but it has been extremely difficult to find one in stores. Thanks to a combination of unprecedented demand, automated bots, and production issues caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many have been disappointed that they didn't find a PS5 under the tree this Christmas. While it may still be some time until PlayStation 5 consoles become more readily available, there is another way that those interested may be able to get their hands on one, free of charge.

DNP3, a social media user and YouTuber who is known for their extravagant giveaways, is giving away a PlayStation 5 console. The custom Spider-Man PS5 console in the associated image is just for promotional purposes only, so the winner can expect to get their hands on a standard white PS5 console. It will be the PS5 with a disc drive, and the prize also includes a copy of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game. Alternatively, the winner can choose to take $650 in cash instead.

There are two ways that interested parties can enter the Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS5 giveaway. First, they simply need to retweet or comment #FreeSpideyPS5, and the other thing they need to do is follow DNP3 on the social media platform. This contest has already caused #FreeSpideyPS5 to be one of the top trends on Twitter, with nearly 30,000 tweets at the time of this writing. It will be difficult to win, but the person that does win will be chosen on December 30.

This isn't the first major contest that DNP3 has hosted recently. Earlier in December, DNP3 hosted a similar giveaway for Microsoft's Xbox Series X console. Similarly to this PS5 giveaway, DNP3's efforts caused a Twitter trend. The prize that time was an Xbox Series X console or $650 cash, with the bundle including two Xbox Series X controllers, two games, and a three month subscription to Xbox Game Pass. Overall, the Xbox bundle giveaway was worth more than the PS5 giveaway dollars-wise.

Many fans would be happy to get an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 console without having to break the bank, though many more are willing to pay full price. The problem is many consumers simply can't find any next-generation consoles on store shelves this holiday season. And unfortunately, it appears as though PS5 supply constraint is going to continue well into 2021.

Eventually, PS5 supply will match demand, and it will be much easier for consumers to walk into a store and walk out with a PS5. While they wait, though, it doesn't hurt to enter contests like this on the off-chance that they will win a PS5 of their own.
