Without a doubt, the developer Insomniac Games' forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, Spider-Man, is easily one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2018, with fans anxiously awaiting its launch. While Sony has yet to officially confirm the game's release date, a listing on a Swedish online retailer's website could potentially point to the action-adventure title swinging onto the scene in autumn of this year.

As seen below in the screenshot from the web page of the Swedish online retailer known as CoolShop, Spider-Man's release date could very well be September 28, 2018, which falls on a Friday – a popular day of the week for publishers and developers to launch their games. That said, though, it's best to keep a shaker of salt handy, as the listing could simply be a placeholder date until Sony and Insomniac Games decide to officially unveil Spider-Man's release date.

Of course, CoolShop's listing for Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 could also be totally legitimate, as the Swedish company may have inadvertently posted the information without approval from Sony or Insomniac Games. After all, typical launch day placeholders for titles that have yet to receive an official release date are more often than not either the last day of the current year, or the last day of the season that a game is supposed to launch.

Taking all of this into consideration, it's far too early to tell whether or not CoolShop's release date for Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 is accurate, especially with there being no additional evidence to back up the listing. So, until either Sony or Insomniac announces the launch date for the PS4 exclusive, it's best not to get one's hopes up for the game to become available in September, as there's always the lingering possibility of unforeseen circumstances causing delays, which makes the release date subject to change.

Spider-Man is set to launch at some point in 2018 for PlayStation 4.
