Spider-Man for the PS4 is one of the most highly-anticipated games of this year, and Insomniac Games has done an excellent job of maintaining that excitement with the release of interviews, gameplay, and trailers. Now, another trailer has been released for the upcoming arachnid adventure, and it looks pretty stellar.

A lot of the gameplay has been seen before, like the helicopter sequence and the scene on top of the prison, but there's also some cool new stuff, including some glamor shots of New York and a couple of villain action shots. It also shows off an interaction with Miles Morales, who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man in a few different comic runs.

The trailer is brief, but it does drum up even more excitement for the game. The broad roster of enemies, the web-slinging, which Game Rant approved of in our preview; and the beautiful New York scenery all add-up to craft one of the most gorgeous looking console games of all time. It should be a wonderful experience for hardcore and casual Spider-Man fans alike.

The focus on Miles Morales throughout the game's various trailers is curious, though, and has lead to some speculation. Peter Parker has held the mantle for 7 years in Spider-Man, which seems like a pretty lengthy career for someone who spends their time dodging bullets and angering mobsters. It isn't too much of a stretch to imagine something horrible might befall the hero, resulting in his untimely death or inability to fight crime.

It's possible Miles could take over for Peter at some point in the game, or perhaps even after the credits roll, similar to Jack Marston in Red Dead Redemption. There's also the possibility of DLC centering around Miles' journey to becoming a hero and succeeding Peter, which would fit perfectly and operate independently from the main experience.

Whatever the case, hopefully, Spider-Man is able to live up to the hype. Sony has been absolutely rocking it with their exclusive titles for the PS4, and it looks like Spider-Man will be no different. Luckily, Spider-Man's release is right around the corner, having gone gold a few weeks ago. Fans everywhere will soon be able to swing their way around New York without a care in the world.

Spider-Man will release on September 7th, 2018, for the PS4.
