During Sony's E3 press conference, it revealed a brand new gameplay trailer for its upcoming action adventure game based on Marvel's Spider-Man. For those lucky enough to be in attendance, a free Daily Bugle newspaper was distributed, providing several Easter eggs and references for the game. It's worth noting that some, if not most of them, are simple Easter eggs, yet some could also house SPOILERS for the game.

The Daily Bugle contained references to the following properties: Iron Man, The Avengers, Daredevil, Black Cat, as well as in-game characters Miles Morales and Norman Osborn. Considering the deep and diverse universe of Spider-Man, it stands to reason that any number of the aforementioned unconfirmed characters (such as Iron Man) could actually appear in the game.

First off, the newspaper shows a "For Sale" ad listing a home at 890 5th Avenue, which diehard comic fans may recognize as the address for the Avengers headquarters known as the Avengers Mansion. Moreover, it is listed as being owned by an unmistakable moniker for Iron Man - "prolific NYC Industrialist." After seeing the close relationship between Iron Man and Spider-Man in both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, it would be interesting to see their relationship in the game, though it hasn't yet been confirmed that Iron Man even plays a role.

Next up is an ad for the law practice of Foggy Nelson and Matt Murdock (known to evildoers as Daredevil). Again, while's there nothing suggesting Daredevil could even be in the game, it would be surprising not to see some reference since Spider-Man and Daredevil have a unique comic history, with both characters having run-ins with Kingpin and romantic relationships with Black Cat.

Black Cat even gets included in the digital edition linked in the newspaper, which discusses robberies by a master thief (as seen above). Norman Osborn receives two references: one which indicates his company, Oscorp Industries, is hiring. This is significant because Insomniac Games has previously suggested Peter Parker would have a new job, and given his talents, this could be a major plot point.

The other Osborn easter egg indicates the villain could make a potential power play by placing the city under martial law, which is another potential plot point. Lastly, a robotically-gifted Miles Morales is referred to in an article written by Mary Jane Watson. With Spider-Bots, as well as various gadgets, having a role in the game, it seems possible that Morales is the mastermind behind the tech or takes an even bigger role in the plot.

Regardless, until the game launches or Insomniac Games issues a confirmation, the above could easily just be simple easter eggs. Nevertheless, with the game launching in a few short months, it'll be interesting to see if the Daily Bugle has any depth to it.

Spider-Man releases September 7, 2018, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
