With the remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man set to arrive on the PS5 in less than two weeks, fans are hopping back onto the PS4 version of the game to pay their respects. One Spider-Man player attempted to stop a random crime, but the result of their victory led to a hilarious tragedy that was captured on video.

Rather than making an appreciation post for Peter Parker’s old character model, reddit user Kryptex_5 posted a clip of Spider-Man gameplay where they attempted to stop a random crime in progress. One of the various crimes the webslinger can stop in the game is a car chase, where Spidey leaps on to a vehicle and completes a series of quick time events to stop it. The result of the hero saving the day may have done more harm than good in this situation, however, as one civilian paid a price.

The post and the many comments made in response reference J. Jonah Jameson, the iconic reporter that will be seen in the flesh during Spider-Man: Miles Morales. If the clip is anything to go by, Jameson may have been right about Spidey. Kryptex_5 completes the QTE and catches the car, with Spidey using all his strength to put the vehicle down. The only problem is that the Spectacular Spider-Man dropped the car right on top of a civilian.

While Spider-Man is not supposed to be able to hurt civilians or kill enemies within the Insomniac game, this civilian is very dead or, at the very least, severely injured. The only way Spidey could look worse in this situation is if he was wearing the cut Spider-Cop costume, though he certainly looks like the “menace” J. Jonah Jameson claims he is. Still, as crazy as it is to see Spider-Man flatten a civilian, it is a bit funny to watch the NPC crumble under the car and disappear as soon as it lands.

With Spider-Man Remastered confirmed to get brand new trophies, fans will have all new reasons to jump into the game, and hopefully, be able to avoid such disasters. Still, the clip is a fun watch that should be viewed by any fan of the game, as things go wrong very fast for Krypex_5’s version of Spidey.

For players bothered by this macabre Spidey mishap, a look at the Into The Spider-Verse suit for Miles Morales should cheer anyone up. The incredibly accurate movie suit includes detailed animations that mimic the style of the movie, and it is sure to be a fan favorite outfit when Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered arrive.

Spider-Man: Remastered releases as part of the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4 and PS5 on November 12.
