After months of speculating, and a potential leak, the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally arrived and Marvel fans are ecstatic. Since its release on Monday night, keen-eyed fans have been trying to break down the trailer for any Easter eggs. The most popular conspiracy at this point is Charlie Cox’s presence as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, in the trailer.

Fans are convinced that at one point in the teaser trailer, when Peter Parker is being interrogated, Cox’s Matt Murdock makes an appearance. ‘Charlie Cox’ and ‘Matt Murdock’ were trending topics on Twitter, with social media users sharing screenshots of the scene and pointing out the similarities between Cox’s Daredevil character and the one who makes a brief appearance in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer.

At the 25-second mark in the trailer, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is seen waiting in an interrogation room. Two individuals walk in, one of them being an agent who is clearly visible, whereas the other is constantly shrouded in darkness and viewers never get to see his face. He is seen dumping a bunch of files on the desk while wearing a dress shirt, with the sleeves rolled up, and a tie, which is quite similar to the way Murdock dresses in the Daredevil series.

The similarity in the partial appearance has fans convinced that Cox's Daredevil will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and could potentially be working with Parker. As previously mentioned, fans on social media are sharing side-by-side images of the mysterious character from the No Way Home trailer and Cox’s Murdock to point out similarities. Some passionate fans have gone to the extent of sharing a closeup of Cox’s arm to match the arm hair with that of the No Way Home character.

There are the more reasonable fans who are insisting that everybody needs to stay calm and wait for a more detailed trailer, or perhaps a confirmation from Marvel, before jumping to any conclusions. They are even pointing out the differences between the two characters to convince their peers that it is, in fact, somebody else, and not Murdock, in the interrogation room with Parker.

Netflix’s Daredevil was the most popular Marvel series on the streaming platform. Fans were quite upset when the series was canceled back in 2018, which marked the end of the fan-favorite character’s journey. Marvel boss Kevin Feige had at one point stated that he would be open to bringing back Defenders characters from Netflix shows, which is probably responsible for starting the rumor that Murdock would be making a comeback. Fans just have to wait to see if the rumor will in fact be true.

Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres in theaters on December 17, 2021.
