Marvel Studios and Sony's new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer offered fans a quick glimpse at the new look for Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. Now, a new poster for the film gives fans the chance to take a closer look at the updated costume for the Spider-Man foe.

Prior to the release of the first two Spider-Man: No Way Home trailers, the return of Dafoe's Green Goblin was merely a rumor fueled by unconfirmed reports of the acclaimed actor being spotted on the film's set. While the first preview hinted at Dafoe's Goblin returning by including a brief shot of the villain's classic pumpkin bomb accompanied by his sinister cackle, the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer featured the first footage of the antagonist in action.

In one quick shot from the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, fans could see Dafoe's Green Goblin flying towards the camera in an outfit that was definitely not the armor the character wore in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. Of course, the shot was fast and even pausing the trailer didn't offer the clearest image of the Green Goblin's new outfit. However, Sony Pictures Japan has unveiled a new poster for No Way Home that features Dafoe's Green Goblin hovering on his glider in the background in his new attire. While the new Green Goblin outfit still isn't entirely comic-accurate, which was an issue even fans of Raimi's Spider-Man films had with the character's costume, the classic satchel used to carry those pumpkin bombs is finally included, and the decision to replace the mask with a hoodie will certainly allow Dafoe's performance to shine.

Spider-Man No Way Home Poster Japan Green Goblin

Much like the panned Spider-Man: No Way Home poster released in the U.S., the Sony Pictures Japan poster puts Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the spotlight, with the mechanical tentacles of Alfred Molina's Doc Ock ready to attack. However, with the most recent trailer confirming their roles in the film, both the Lizard and Jamie Foxx's Electro are also included on the Japan poster. Also notable is the inclusion of Zendaya's MJ, who is featured prominently alongside Spider-Man and Strange.

Of course, the widely believed return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield is still not being promoted. While some might see this as a sign that the rumors of their involvement could be flash, the latest No Way Home trailer provided clues about their potential inclusion, including a shot involving the group of villains that fans believe clearly had both actors digitally removed.

Still, there's always the possibility that all of these rumored appearances will turn out to be untrue or less significant than what fans imagined. Kevin Feige has already warned fans to temper their expectations, but at this point, fans know that the Marvel Studios' boss is pretty good at playing coy.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 17, 2021.
